King Queen Theme
Posted on: 05/24/2006 01:51 AM
Hello Ladies, my husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary, I have several ideas as to what I want to do. Please tell me what you all think. Our colors are purple brown and white. It is going to be a king/queen theme. I was thinking about having the ceremony/reception in the same place. I wanted to us to enter together and walk to the front of where our minister will be standing. Before we entered I wanted to have a fog machine and once the fog cleared we would be standing there and then walk down the isle. I still have not decieded what type of food to serve. I am really confused, I really want the ceremony to be nice, but a ceremony that showing our love that we have for one another. Please help. We are on a budget. I am going to prepare our invitations, programs, etc.

First off welcome!!! Secondly I can definitely sympathize with you because we are renewing (10 yrs) as well, so I know what it's like to want a "wedding" but also to already be married and try to be appropriate. Having said that I think that purple, chocolate and white will look great together and the king and queen theme is definitely doable. Since your theme is royalty I think that the purple should be the primary color, maybe for the invites, programs rsvps etc and that you should use chocolate as the accent color and I also think that your flowers ( have you gotten this far yet?) should be either roses or calla lillies. Everything has to be elegant and regal. Excuse me for being all in your business like this but I am very good at arranging other people's stuff. At leat that's what my 7 younger sisters and brothers tell me. Anyway you can also do a family unity ceremony , we are doing sand instead of candles but we are letting out boys participate in that, so instead of having 2 different colors of sand we are having 5 and they will get to pour the sand in too. We are writing new vows and on the front cover of our programs we put I'm Marrying My Best Friend ....Again, maybe you guys could incorporate some of this in your celebration. I am also doing a lot of things myself. Not only because of a budget but because it will make our renewal unique. Let me know if any of this helps...... Sorry it's so long.

Were getting married.........again!

Thank you ladies for the information. I really agree with everything. I am making things a lot harder because I can not deciede where we are going to have the ceremony. There are two places where we live that have really nice gardens. Here are the sites www.elmwoodgardens.com and www.countrycarouselweddings.com, they have everything I need for the ceremony and reception. The garden will run about $1500, but it includes everything all I have to do is show up. I am also thinking about renewing in the church were we were orgianally married but that means we would have to have the reception at another location and we will be responsible for decorating and clean up. My husband is cooking he loves to cook. I am sorry I am going on and on.

I like the gardens hands down as far as My taste goes, but I do understand that the other place is more inclusive. I guess it's just going to boil down to what the two of you think you can do. Just be realistic about how many things you are ok with doing yourself. Then try and figure out wich one will go with your theme the best.

The ceremony is formal I am going to wear my original wedding dress, I am going to alter it a little, I am going to take the tain and add a ribbon and emborior our original wedding date on one side ribbon and our 10th anniversery date on the other side of the ribbon. We are also going to celebrate his 40th birthday the same day. I am tring to do the renewal and birthday celebration on the same day. I have decieded to make the reception more of the birthday celebration. We want the reception to be a party where we can dance and have a great time and celebrate both. Someone told me just to have a renewal/reception at one place in the same room.

Welcome to the site Elainehunt! Is the King/Queen Theme a theme that you will be working with as well?

Imagine this you get married at a castle in the garden the one I want to use is in pittsburg pa. Forget the fog you arrive in a 1 horse white carriage in the most beautiful gown with a filigre crown in gold(order one for you and one for your man ) You arrive at the garden two of your groomsmen in your colors are waiting at the gate with swords to salute you. You arrive the carriage stops and you get out there is a trumpet playint (da da da da, You know what I mean) All eyes are on you you wedding party walks down the ailse all except the flowergirls. Instead of the plain white aisle runner you go with royal blue. The isle runner is laid down and a harpist begins to play. Your flower girls start down the aisle runner dropping white or red rose patels because you are a Queen and all queens deserve to walk on them. You make it to the front of the garden where the vowes will take place and when he gives you the ring he is on bended knee and you except. The guest throw birdseed at you passed out before the ceremony in chocolate and blue satin pouches. You arrive at the reception where there are two velvet chairs one for you and one for your king which you use to take pictures of you and your wedding party get a cepteor as well play it up. The meal get one of your puerto rican friends (we all got one) to make you a roast pig on the spit with an apple in his mouth with some of that rice and then have some kind of beef or chicken for the no pork folks and girl make a plater of fruit with papiya , mango and passion fruit. And please dont have the people waiting all day to eat between the reception and the wedding that is tacky as hell and they will talk about you so keep it upscale. Any more ideas just ask. Congrats and God Bless Elaine
