Post your cake
Posted on: 05/09/2006 11:42 AM
If you have picked out your cake, or considering a certain one, post it so we can see it.

Here's mine

The baker is going to do something a little different though. Instead of the small flowers, he's going to do hearts (since that's my motif)and that ribbon (or whatever it is) won't be there.

Thank you Roni......have you picked out yours yet?

Now that I look at the cake, I think about that cheesy cake topper (from one of my previous threads), and realized it would have screwed up the whole look of the cake.

I'm glad you ladies were honest with me about that, even though I saw how cheesy it was for myself when I received it.

You are welcomed B2B, you will definitely find honesty here -- lol!!! I have decided on a cake as yet, but I saw this and if the baker can make it for me I will do it. Check it outRhonda's Cake. The flowers around it would be navy blue of course.

That's beautiful!!!! I don't see why your baker wouldn't be able to do it. That looks like a fondant cake. Do you want fondant?

I have never tasted fondant, but I was told it's not too tasty, and it costs more, so my baker is going to make the cake in buttercream icing. He said it can be done with buttercream, but it won't look as "smooth" as the fondant.

Yep..I have done some research into the fondant...I guess it's something you have to get your mouth ready for...me myself, I went shopping for a cake/server set that actually has a serrated edge because I understand one of the issues with fondant is that it may be a bit tougher to make the first cut with...that was another reason I chose a buttercream creamcheese carrot cake.
Every wedding I have been to I have seen people peel off the fondant and/or eat around it anyway.

I have found some interesting cakes at http://www.freedsbakery.com/weddings-frameset.html. If you can't find anything here... you have issues.

My cake is a square, 2 layer not tiered carrot, pineapple and pecan cake with the words" Live, Love, Laugh" enscribed on them, in remembrance of my deceased mom you used to say that a lot.

My caked is halfway down the page on the left..it's square and will be really nice with an abundance of fresh flowers in dark purple, cream, orange and yellow, minus the country-fried ribbon on it and the sugar orchids. It's simple but elegant, under 200.00 and square cake feeds more folks than round, another tidbit I picked up on wedding cake and wedding cake cutting etiquette!

I was told that fondant is not very tasty. So while the picture of my cake is in fondant, I've asked the lady whose doing my cake to do it in a butter cream frosting. The picture is shown for style.

Not quite sure yet but it will be one of these. I have 3 potential bakers in mind. In the end it will come down to taste and who can make the cake in buttercream ( don't like fondant)

They have great cakes and the price is right too! I love your cake, and your fh's cake is great too -- you can't go wrong with chocolate!

Yeah, I hope he likes it too. The only type of sweets he likes is chocolate. He is probably going to share it cause he won't eat a lot of it, so I ordered a smaller version of it. But he'll love to have something that he can enjoy.

Musik. I like the 1st one too. Those flowers on there are too cute. If you have purple in your wedding I would find out what those flowers are. I think its some kind of tahitian orchid, but don't quote me.

Bumble, i am using purple accents so that would be great. I recently found out someone is buying our cake as their gift so i have more freedom now. My girlfriend from work who's getting married on Feb. 24 is feeding the masses with Safeway cake and I think i'll follow her example.

Hi,

I have chosen my cake but I am having trouble coordinating my colors into the cake. I have come up with some suggestions but none of them sound right. My colors are chocolate, light blue, and cream.

Here is a link to a picture of the cake:
http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30A675-475A-BAC0-525BB0AADDF3EB94&fid=3E32AEA9-475A-BAC0-5A57BB27FD2A4B5E

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I saw a beautiful chocolate 2 layer (squares) cake, with the choclate icing and creme-colored dots all over the cake...The couple's colors where a simple chocolate and creme.
OR you can do a soft blue icing (fondant) with chocolate colored accents.
Now that I think of it, your colors are so retro! The flowers may take away from it because they give more of a classic feel...but thats just me....
This may help with formulating ideas:

Brown with white/blue accents

Simple

Scrollwork

Maybe this with blue?

MsBoston, that cake is beautiful. Ginoue, I love yours too. My icing was butter cream too. We thought that to get a smooth look you have to do fondant, but I wasn't willing to risk people not liking it, so we went with buttercreme, and it came out beautifully and delicious too. I will post my actual cake later....I think it came out better than the sample I posted earlier....

Hey ladies. So FH and I are going up to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks to do some tastings, and I will also have my first fitting!! I'm so excited!! So I have a few cakes that I really like, and FH gave his opinion on which one he likes, but he hasn't seem some of the most recent options I have added. I will show him when I go up to Atlanta this weekend. I would just like your input on which of these cakes you like most. By the way, our colors are Victorian lilac and Celadon, so keep in mind there will be some color variations on the cakes! Thank you!

I have wanted a cake that looks like stacked presents ever since I saw a photo of one, but then I saw the photo of the cake with the orange flowers, and I really love that one too! I just found the picture of the 3rd cake with the green bows, and I really like that one. My FH only saw the first two cakes, and he to chose the one with the orange flowers, as did I. But then tonight, I saw the 3rd one, the one with the green bows, and I found myself liking that one also. Knowing my FH, he'll still choose the first one, and if this is the case, we'll definitely choose that one!! This is about the only thing he has given input on!! I ask for it, he's just the type to say "it's up to you, I don't care"...lol!! So whenever he offers his opinion, and it's something I can tolerate, I happily accept it!!

The one with the orange flowers looks almost like the cake I had except mine was done in a octagon shape. You can see it in the wedding pics forum under pamcrows wedding pics.

My venue is supplying the cake for us .... are any of you ladies venue doing this? should I take it or buy my own? I think the cake is all white, I thought I could always have someone decorate it with flowers or something.
