My FH and I are struggling with his attire. The groomsmen will wear black tuxedos and aqua vests and ties (my wedding color). He is not a little guy and therefore doesn't want to wear a white tux. We have decided that he will wear a black tux also, but what color vest should he wear?
That's an easy one...he can either have white vest and tie to match your dress (he should show off his purity also ya know!) or he can have a mixture of aqua and black vest and tie (if you can find that pattern)...but I really think the white inner would be appropriate as the groom.
My dress is white. The bridesmaids dresses are aqua and they will have silver accessories. FH is definitely wearing a black tux. We thought about a white vest, blcak vest or even a platinum vest. We just don't want to have to much going on.
This has nothing to do with this post but I see so much of us on at the same time I just had to send out a Holla to Niquey, Island, Bossie, Septbride...this is cool, we don't get this all the time :-)
I just had to share this with ya'll. I mentioned to one of my co-workers about the white vests...she said noooo way, he will look like a penguin...I thought that was funny at first, but then I got mad. I need to stop asking everybody's opinion (except you all) because evrybody's opinion is diffent. Let them just wait and see.

Now you see Bossie that would have brought out the cat in me and I would have said 'that explains the KFC you used at your last function and tried to pass it off as fine dining. You wouldn't know class if it bite ya in your Jaclyn Smiths'. But that just me.LOL!!
LOL...I was trying to keep my composure. I didn't want to get street on her, although I know how. I should have said "what is your man wearing....ooopps, you don't have one"...As my grandmama say.."that'll learn her".
Personally I think penguins are cute, so it will be ok if he looks like one (at least to me).Who's really going to be thinking about penguins at a wedding a nyway? Whoever does dont need to be there, as soon as a penguin thought enters their mind they should leave immediately and go watch March of the Penguins...I'm sure they would have enjoyed your wedding more than the movie. For our wedding my FH will be wearing a white tux with red (bow) tie and vest and I will be designing a white dress with red embroidary(spelling)and beading.My bridesaids will wear red and groomsmen will wear black with red vests and ties.We want to be the only two people to wear white since it is our big day.Neither of us have been married before and we been knowing each other since we were 15 (now 22)we just put in red for his favorite color and my favorite color is green and we will get that from the flowers/greenery.I said all that to say its totally up to the two of you. Your day your decision.
P.S. Anyone know what kind of tux to wear to a wedding taking place outside at approximately 12-2pm (time not really set yet)?

Nlbostic, I agree with Phenomonique and Charley a white vest would be very elegant. And as for your co-worker, that sistah is just plain 'ol hatin'! I've learned to keep my mouth shut and confide in my sisters here on the boards and I have had such peace in doing that. Okay ladies. We are part of a sisterhood here. So, I'm going to keep it real. Bossy, I am still cracking up over here. That was toooooooooo funny - a penguin. Oh my goodness! It wasn't that funny Septy (don't like that name...it sounds like septic tank.....LOL) I think the white vest looks really nice with the black tux. Forget what everybody else thinks. For the other sisters, I just want to let you know that if you see me and Septy (LOL) going at each other....it's okay. We've learned that we have a lot in common and live about 10 minutes from each other. We have started corresponding through our personal email and even talk on the phone. We feel like weve known each other for years...so if I tell her that I am going to smack her...don't be alarmed!!!

My FH & I are having this very same discussion. Our colors are apple red & cream. Groomsmen are wearing black tuxes w/ red vests & ties. FH wants to wear the red & tie too. I want him to stand out (with me :-) and wear a white or cream vest & tie. Grrrr!

Cinamin your colors are simular to mine.I will be wearing a white dress with red trim and FH will wear a white tux with red vest and tie. As for the groomsmen I will have them wear a black tux with a grey shirt and red vest and tie.My bridesmaids will either wear silver for the grey of the mens shirts or red. But my overall colors are red,white and silver. I say you should let your FH wear what he wants , if he looks too much like the groomsmen just change one little thing. he can still wear red just have it in a different style and unique to him for your big day.
Charly, a white tux isn't even an option! I couldn't even suggest that he should wear a white tux. AllieS, he wants to wear the exact same thing as the groomsmen because 'that's how he always saw it done'. I hate it when he says crap like that b/c we shouldn't care how everyone else does it. This is our time. We need to see if they have the red satin ties & vests in different styles I guess.

Cinamin check out this page, this is how my FH's tux will look. Allies FH Tux . You can show your FH and let him see how things look. Its a menswarehouse tux. Just because "thats how its always been" dont mean you have to do it too.I told my FH he will be wearing a white tux,he has/had no say in what color as long as he wears red. All my groomsnem will be in black and red.I only want FH and I to be in red and white. Not even my bridesmaids get to wear whit, they will probably wear red and black like the groomsmen.
