Floral Arrangements...
Posted on: 12/01/2005 12:38 AM
How much is too much to spend on wedding decorations? I finally found a florist and my total cost is $1200 for wedding and reception (my flowers, bm flowers, groom, gm, mil, mob, etc.)

Laneirh, that is a good question. Are you having fresh flowers or silk flowers?

Oh my goodness laneirh, I am having the same issue. I am using silk flowers and decorations, flowers, etc exactly like yours could also be ~$1200 and I was wondering also if that was considered to be too much. Glad you made the post. We both could use the insight.

Personally, I would say that is too much or maybe my florist is just exceptionally reasonable. I didn't go anywhere else because I've seen her work before, so I don't have any other prices to compare. My total came to $800.00. That includes my flowers, bm flowers, groom, gm, mil, mob, church flowers, pew bows and cake table decorations. All fresh flowers. Had I not seen any of her work previously, I would have sworn that she didn't know what she was doing because her price was so low, but she is awesome (a sister too). I would say keep shopping around if you have the time. However, I am in NJ. Maybe that is the going rate in SC.

Hi Nlbostic, where are you located in New Jersey? Would you mind sharing your florist information with me? I will be moving to New Jersey in two months and I would appreciate the information if possible. Thanks.

Here you go Rhonda:
It's called Forget Me Not Floral Boutique. The owner's name is Lauren. The shop is located at 174 Danforth Avenue, Jersey City. The number is 201 915-9555. She did my cousin's wedding and the arrangements were gorgeous.

Rhonda, I am using both silk and live flowers. My arrangement will be live roses (various colors) and some other arrangements in the church/reception will be live as well. I am also asking the florist to do some other special things on that day that could be raising my cost alittle bit. When I first spoke to her, it was alittle lowere towards the $800-900 range but then I started on my fantasy and it was over. I like this florist work and she has a great way of paying attention to detail. So I believe that I will go with her but just narrow down my vision alittle.

I'm going to talk to the florist that Nlbostic recommended. I will probably do a combination of live and silk flowers as well. I don't want to go over my budget, so I will check to see what my options are. Laneirh it sounds like your facility will be decorated very nicely, can't wait to see the pics!!!
