Nicky's Blog
Posted on: 10/04/2008 09:17 AM
Hello there ladies! I have been on a planning roll & decided to post my progress so far, we are getting married @ 6:00pm on July 17th, 2009. I have finally made up my mind about my centerpieces(it was a battle) here they are , let me know what you think. I am also using crystal tree's, one big one for my favor table & 2 to be placed by the entrance on both sides & here they are . I have my church, recep. site, my DJ, my photgraphers(who I love), my cake, bridesmaid dresses all done. My next big task are the limo's & my DRESS..there are just too many choices out there ladies! I think my head is gonna explode sometimes. Here are some of my choices that I was thinking of
Now this dress is diffrent which is why I love it, however it has nothing to do w/my theme which is Old Hollywood...around the 40's.
I just love the back of this dress, the front however, is rather plain
In true Diva form I'm having 2 dresses...one ceremony & one reception(so I can party like a rockstar..lol). I found 2 that I like so far
Here is the other
I also found these which I think go so well
Here are our toasting flutes
Our Cake, I had it in another post but here it is again anyway
Ok, Ok...I know I got carried away sorry ladies...Tell me what you think!!

Nicky, you've made some beautiful choices!
If you are doing a 40's theme, I would certainly go for this dress for your reception:

I love crystal trees. Are you purchasing them or making them yourself?

Thanks Pamcrow...I want to make them. It would cost about $280. to get a XL one, & $180 per Large tree if I buy them..plus shipping. If I make them it would be like $ 80 for the Large & about $90 to &100 for the XL one.

Nicky,
I'm loving the crystal trees... But I'll bet you can make them for less than that amount. Are you buying the branches? OKAY, I'm all about saving money...Why not get the branches from natural trees and spray paint them. Go to the craft store to get the crystals and some hot glue. And you can find the flower pots at the dollar store and spray paint them as well. I thnik they will look just like the picture you've posted.
Sorry if I'm being a bit cheap... But I work with numbers.LOL

Thanks soon2bmsj, I am surprised that i got as much done as I did! There are sooooo many choices out there, my head was spinning many a night. CMT what type of braches would you suggest? I want something that is full like the Manzanita branches that are used for the tree's. I ck'd the craft stores in my area for crystals & they don't have the size that I need. I was going to string them myself but no luck finding what I needed. Any suggestions?? I even searched online to try & order them but they only sell from what I saw the crystals used to make jewlery. I ck'd the dollar store for pots, no luck yet...I did however find some at Michaels for $5.00 each so I just may have to w/them.

BTW CMT, did you do fabric draping @ your reception? IF so please tell me if you did that yourself or you had a company do it for you. Thanks Diva!

Nicky,
Yes I had fabric draping for my wedding and reception but the venue set that up for me. If I would have done it, it would've been jacked up!!LOL
For the crystals, "GOOGLE" Swarovski Crystals, I think you can buy them as singles and roped. They come in all colors and are not to expensive. For the branches, I know the crystal trees are made with Manzanita branches, but I think you can find some branches that look just as full. If not on trees you can go to the flower nursery, I'm sure they will have some tree branches at a reasonable price. You may even find some flower pots there as well.

CMT, I did google & came up w/nothing...I'll try it again..I did come across some crystals that were $1.85 per strand(the cheapest I've seen). Thank you for the nursery advice, I'll try that this weekend & let you know how it goes. Good looking out Diva!!

Hello there Nicky. I'm very happy that you've started your blog. I love the fact that you have so many things done already. Loving your centerpieces and your theme. I myself am mixing the Old hollywood into my "Classic Elegance" theme.
As far as your crystal tree, I say do it yourself. I don't know, but the wedding planner in me refuses to spend money that are better saved for a rainy day. I'm sure that you could do your plants for half of your budgeted $160 ($80 and $90) for the 2. Hit Michaels, Hobby lobby, walmart, kmart and your local dollar stores. Trust me, you'll be surprised.
You're on a roll sister, keep the information coming.

Hey Nicky. Just checked out your website but I forgot to sign, I'll have to go back to show some love. The save-the-dates are very nice.
For your crystal trees, also check out save-on-crafts.com for the branches and crystals. Also with christmas right around the corner, you might want to wait on buying the crystals. You might be able to catch some crystal garland on sale the closer it gets to christmas.

Ok Nicky, I looked at the website you posted for the branches. I think they're great, but a bit on the pricey side. For your crystal tree to come out really full, you would need 2 -3 branches and at $20 to $30 each branch do add up. I would still check Michaels, Kmart, walmart, etc.. to see what you found and if you can get it better than the price listed. To pay that amount for each branch and then you still need the pots and the crystals, it would certainly add up.

Well, it's a ball gown, so it's wonderful for a formal wedding and suits many body types (except for petite). The details on the bodice are really what makes this gown. Beautiful selection.

Nicky your dress is stunning. Very nice choice. If you are worried about the fullness of dress you can always go for less crinoline/petticoat underneath.
Do you have a pic of your bridesmaid dresses?

I think your bridesmaid dresses are nice, works well with your theme, and it compliments your dress without competing with your dress. The style is very versatile so your girls can definetly wear it again easily. Have you selected their jewelry and shoes yet? Maybe you'll like it more once all the pieces are together.

Pamcrow...maybe your right. No I haven't selected jewelry just yet & I have been trying to find some affordable & comfy shoes for my girls. I do like the price of the dresses for my ladies though, they are only $48.00. Sweet P..not yet girl but we're only 3 hrs away from NY so I will be doing that fairly soon. I'm just concerned b/c I'm losing weight right now. Pebbles35 & phenomonique thank you Diva's..I was in love @ first sight w/my dress! I finally understood the term "the one". Diva's do you have any input for me about the flower's? Should I go real or do some fake me outs?
