The Recession and Your Wedding Plans
Posted on: 07/22/2008 05:33 PM
Speaking of "recessions", I thought it would be interesting to chat with brides-to-be about how the recession is affecting their wedding plans. Are you doing anything different than what you would normally do? Are you downscaling the wedding? Finding altnerative venues, centerpieces, favors, bridesmaid dresses, wedding gowns, etc? DIY?

The recession is really not affecting my wedding plans any. We're inviting 130 guests and hope that 110 or 120 attend. I have a year and 9 months to plan my fabulous event. I plan on making good use of all that time as my vibride sister has turned me into a DIY fanatic. My wedding so far is about 90% DIY and I'm loving adding new things to my list. I find that DIY saves money and will be doing as much as I possibly can with the help of my bridal party and my crew. As for financing our blessed event, with all that time on our hands, we'll just be paying our vendors in increments instead of in bulk.

I don't think the recession bothered us that much. I think we started planning early before our date. It's two weeks before and they whole wedding is paid for except for tips. My mom and my grandma financed our wedding and I think they had saved up for this day but I like to find bargains so I saved them money here and there with some tips from the ladies here. FH's dad also played a big part in paying for whatever they said no to. Thank God

We have scaled down a bit. I don't know if it is due to recession or just plain reality..lol

I don't think the recession has affected the planning of my wedding- however I think me taking the time to evaluate what was essential from what was frivolous was a huge factor in how we spent money for our day.
