Hen Pecked?
Posted on: 05/22/2008 04:24 PM
My DH is always talking about somebody being henpecked....he thinks all his friends are hen-pecked except him...which may be true b/c he is a Taurus...however, whats up with that? Does your man call everybody henpecked? Do you think yours is? Or is he a little spoiled like mine?????

Ok Bumble ....my husband is a Taurus too. And it's weird at times .. I'll think (won't say it though) he's hen-pecked ...but boy is he STUBBORN at times durning an arguement, if he loses, he won't say that it goes right into something ..."well that's just like the time when" ..we'll be arguing for hours about NOTHING because he's changed the subject so many times ...I forgot! Oh and another thing ..he's not spoiled.

DH swears he's henpecked whenever I get upset and say something he don't want to hear but gets mad whenever we both spend the day out with our own set of friends and I don't bother to call him at all. Then he'll call me with 20 questions, "where you at? Word, who you with? Why you ain't call nobody? You been by the house yet? What time you coming in? So what yall about to get into, yall going out?" I just laugh and give him the same vague answers he tries to give me.

There might be different meanings to henpecked but the way I've always understood it to mean is a man who is constantly "nagged" at by his woman. Think of a hen pecking the ground and take that image and transpose it. The woman is the hen and the man is the ground..... see henpecked.

If anyone has a different meaning for henpecked, please share.

Throughout our engagement my husband kept making comments about how he would not be "henpecked" and how all of his boys are. (I don't know maybe it is a male thing Bumble) My husband is a Virgo and is extremely stubborn. I don't think he's hen pecked, I like the fact that we chanllenge each other. It helps to make our relationship interesting.

And to add to PamCrow's explanation, I also believe that the henpecked husband always gives in to his wife's nagging. The wife in essence is the boss. At least that is my understanding.

Well now that we've got a clear understanding-my FH is not hen-pecked but he is outrageously SPOILED!!!!!! (sorry about the emphasis but he is) He is the baby in the family, and he hasn't done anything for himself not only because of his sisters (5 btw) but also because of his previous girlfriends. I had to check him on some things too because that is not how life is: to cater to him. I must admit, he has gotten a WHOLE LOT better within these two years.

Ooooops! I thought something different ...I was thinking of Hen-pecked as in ...either doing what the wife wants all the time or just always giving into her ..as in she's the "boss" type of thing. Like instead of just agreeing to go out with guys ...he says ..gotta ask my wife first ..type of deal. Something along those lines.

this is my thought also T-that is why I said that DH is definetly not hen-pecked...although I must admit, he is more compromising that I am :) but he is still definetly SPOILED and not by me--spoiled in the sense of he wants what he wants, when he wants, how he wants PERIOD.

Ya'll are fully. Turiya your thinking is right.....Like my DH's co-worker, he claimes he's hen-pecked because he definitely will say out loud, he gotta ask his wife....My DH will NEVER say it out loud unless I am there with him, and he done made me mad, and is trying to chummy up....Or when he wanted that 47-inch flat, even though he just bought a 37-in flat...oh he was asking his wife everyday until I gave in....

My husband the bull is often full of it ya'll.....

That's my definition of "hen-pecked". My DH isn't, he's stubborn as a mule (he's a Libra). He's also spoiled, he's the baby of 5.

My FH is also a Libra and I know he is not hen pecked. He is the baby boy and the only boy, he has two older sisters. It really gets on my nerves because they call him the prince. But I just sit back and shake my head.
