Beauty Treatments

Has or will anyone be getting any unique beauty treatments prior to their wedding? I'm considering getting a back treatment because of uneven skintone and some blemishes (can't have my back looking tacky in a halter gown you know?)Can anyone recommend anything? If you had it done, any good or bad experiences?

I didnt have that type of treatment, but i should have thought of that too. I had a body wrap done. She wrapped me in bandages soaked in some type of seaweed solution and laid me in a dry sauna with foil paper over me. It was 180 degrees in there, but i couldnt feel the heat because the seaweed solution makes you cold. It helped me to burn off 453 calories laying there for half hour. it refreshes your skin, like exfoliating as well as getting all the impurities/toxins out. I loved it.

Apparently, lots of brides do teeth whitening/bleaching. I might look into that. Also, a good cocoa butter, like Palmers or Ambi, might help with uneven skin tone and/or blemishes.

That's true too. I was watching a show over the weekend about Red Carpet Secrets and they said using strawberries to brush your teeth really whitens them and soaking your nails in pure olive makes your nails strong and pretty...

I have been using the crest whitestrips and they work good but I am still considering other things like the body wrap I may try that.

How soon do you get the back treatment beforehand? My only advice is to be careful trying anything new TOO close to the wedding in case you have some sort of unexpected reaction. That would be horrible!

My Maid of Honor and I are having a Spa day, the day before the wedding. She's handling the details so I can't ellaborate. I just want to glow and float down the aisle to my waiting FH. That's all. I just want this weddig business over with, so we could get on with the marriage. Wow, I'm gushing, sorry, but gosh, he's such a wonderful man. I'm so very blessed!!!

Mrs080908, I was thinking about getting it done at least two weeks before in case I have a reaction or something. Not allergic to anything that I know of but want to play it safe. I currently use Sephora's Chocolate body glosser (it's a chocolate colored cocoa butter stick- unfortunately they no longer carry it but I racked up when they did...lol)on my back but I think a treatment may help too.

I did a teeth whitening about 2-weeks before the wedding. I just used those white strips from Crest. It did make a big difference in my smile b/c I am a coffee drinker. Many people couldn't tell a big difference but I could!
My sister used some tanning lotion for her skin to even it out 2 days before the wedding, and her results were beautiful! I definitely wish I had did that.
I did do a full Mary Kay facial (I was a consultant at the time)...
1. I cleanse and moisturize daily,
2. Micordermabrasion set 3 days before to rid myself of debris in the pores-and fills wrinkles-(Oil of Olay has a big set, MK is a 2-part set)-Not cheap, but great investment, and it gives you a very deep clean.
3. Clay masque the night before for tightening those clean pores, and it smooths the skin, and gets rid of those little white things that some have on their nose......leaving a clean smooth feel, and lets the make-up lay smooth, that way you don't have to put much on because your pores are tight and your skin tone is even.....
4. Skin tone balance: If you have more than a month, I suggest a product that balances skin tone...If you are 2-toned in parts of your face like I was...It takes a few weeks, but with daily use as part of daily cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, it balances those different colors, thus....less concealer needed! MK sells a product called "Even Complexion Essence" that does this, and I have found it useful.....
5. Lip Facial: I also used my MK lip masque that has 2 steps: Step one is a gentle exfoliant to rid of all that skin on the lips, leave on for 1 minute, then you wipe that off and put on the balm....Its an exfoliator or your lips and then that lipstick or gloss lays on beautifully-better!
Though I am biased towards MK, I am sure you can find these same types of products by searching the aisle of Walmart, Target or a good drug store, or by visiting the make-up counter in the department store and asking about a "micordermabrasion set" or "a product that evens your uneven skin tone", or lip exfoliation set, etc, etc.....
MK, and Clinique, Oil of Olay, Estee Lauder, Lancome, etc are in business b/c people invest a lot in their skin with great results so a few months before the wedding is a good time to sample a good product or name brand...Clean, smooth, and blemish-fee skin only works to make the make-up look better, and then you don't have to use as much as I said! Definitely don't depend on make-up to simply cover all those little imperfections, cause you'll just be piling it on!
