Attendants at a destination wedding
Posted on: 04/24/2008 04:39 PM
I love the ideas I see on here! I'm a newbee and actually have never participated in one of these, but I thought I'd ask for some help. I'm trying to figure out good ideas for what my attendants should wear for a wedding on the beach. I don't really want to do the Hawaiian shirt thing and I don't have colors picked out yet (I'm just starting!)so anything goes. Anyone have any creative ideas or seen anything they loved?

The beach may be your backdrop but you won't actually be in the water, therefore, you could choose tea length dresses for your attendants. You could go as formal as Tuxes and suits or relax with just a wonderful pair of slacks, a dress shirt (unbuttoned and no tie) for the guys. They may all go barefoot or beach sandals. When choosing your colors, don't pick something too bright as the sun would hit your bridal party really hard, something like a burnt orange or a fuschia would do very nicely.
Good luck to you.

Welcome Steffeny11. I think anything "light and airy" would be nice for a beach theme wedding. We have a sista on here who had a destination wedding not to long ago and the entire wedding party wore white linen. It was absolutley gorgeous. If you want a more formal look you can do dresses made of chiffon. I definetly wouldn't do the hawaiian shirt thing either but pulling colors from an hawaiian shirt you like will get your creative juices flowing as far as your color selections.

Thanks for the good ideas. I would love to see what the all white linen looked like. I want to go casual, but still classy. I bet if I went with oranges, yellows, pinks, peach it would look really good for pictures, too. What if I had them all choose their own "beach type" dress in that color scheme? But I don't know if I'm a fan of the guys wearing all different colors. That's why I'm stuck.

Welcome Steffeny11!!
a beach wedding sounds soooo romantic!!!!! I think the idea of the ladies in different dresses would be cute or if not, atlease in the chiffon flowing dresses and they could be in different styles. As for the guys, white linen or ivory/tan would be cool!!!

Welcome Steffeny11!
All the ladies here are correct! It depends on what you want to wear....I like the idea of linen suits...I have seen this done. The groom himself had on a linen shirt/pants AND a linen jacket to differentiate, while the guys had on the linen pants and button-down shirt. It turned out so casual and they were still very clean. Their shoes and everything were on point. The women wore brown tea length dresses in a linen material....The dresses were like 40.00 at a local women's clothing store...and it complimented them all....I think tea length is pretty easy to please everyone....Best of luck and happy planning!
