OLDER WOMAN 2ND MARRIAGE
Posted on: 08/06/2005 08:51 PM
Hello everyone and thank you for this wonderful site.

I am 6 years older than my FH. This is my second wedding and his first. He is Nigerian and I am Bahamian, I have 2 children and he has none....You guys see how many different forums I can be in. LOL!

We are planning to get married sometime next year [October] and I remember from my first wedding all the stress of planning so I decided to get a jump start and just see what's out there now.

We will be married here in the Bahamas...some of his family will be here Nigeria along with friends from Malaysia. What I would really like to do is to incorporate as much of his culture as possible in the wedding. I think it is so special that he doesn't mind having the ceremony here especially how he has more family than I do.

I want my 2 children to walk in front of me. Not that I think being a flower girl and ring bearer is not important but I just want them a little more involved.

Tell me how do u think I can incorporate the two cultures and about my children walking in front of me.

Thank you in advance.

I was thinking to walk alone and my children will be slightly in front of me....so I guess you can say they will. There is no one else close enough to me to give me away. At my first wedding, my choir director gave me away but I am not in that choir anymore.

The son is 10 years old and my daughter is 8. I was thinking I didn't really need anyone (cause I don't have anyone to be honest) but to ensure my babies feel like they are a special part of the ceremony, I wanted them to walk in front of me.

It would be precious to let them give you away. Are you doing a unity candle, jumping the broom?

It sounds pretty cool for them to give me away. Difinitely doing the unity candle and I am thinking strongly about jumping of the broom cause it is of African hertiage and my fiance is African so I really want to incorporate his hertiage as well.

I was thinking about platinum/creme or apple/creme....it will definitely be something elegant and for the time of year (fall) also I want my wedding to be around 4pm so we will go into the evening, I really want to create a romantic atmosphere with a lot of candles also.

I like the Ivory and Silver, combo. But you can always use three colors; red, silver, and ivory.

Hmmmmm....you know that sound really good. It is so strange as I was scrolling down to read the lastest post, I thought to myself, it would be nice to include the apple along with the platinum combination and to now read what you wrote only confirms my thought. Nice looking out babieluvbug....

I really like the three colors together.
