disposable dishware
Posted on: 04/08/2008 08:17 AM
My reception is being held at a garage nightclub and it has no kitchen. I have to order tables and chairs. I want to know is there any nice disposable glass or dishware.

You may want to try your local party store. In FL we have Party City. You MAY find some at your local Craft Store like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanne's Fabrics, and the like, but a Party Store usually is a large store that people throwing medium to large parties/picnics, and sell in large quantities. You usually can also find disposable punch bowls, decorations for different party themes, food warmers (usually aluminum for easy disposal), and the chafing dishes with Sternos. I recently did a Bridal Shower and I purchased the Punch Bowl, banners for the party, favors, and when I needed something to keep food warm for another Bridal Shower I did, I bought the food warmers and the sternos.

The dishes are also there and they are often called "China-like" Many people either buy White, Black, or Clear. You can usually find coordinating saucers, bowls, and utensils. These sotres also offer items for rent

You may also purchase this online at THIS website, PartyPop.com or do a general google search. The prices are usually reasonable. I also think rental companies have these onsale too, so if you need to rent any arches, columns, or fountains, you can also inquire about these china-like disposable dishes. Some are so sturdy, people wash and keep them. The rental places or course can also provide you with linen, chair covers, glassware, silverware, and real china too.

Whoever caters your reception often include packages WITH the real china, linen, and silver, or the plastic versions at a lower cost. They can also do your glassware too. Its a convienent extra cost so you are not responsible for clean-up, but ordering things individually may put the clean-up responsibilities in your hands.
Happy Planning.

Have you considered renting? The same places you get tables and chairs you can rent linens and tabletop accessories. You will get a great deal when ordering all from the same place and your space will look refined at a fraction of the cost. Sometimes plastic disposables can cost almost as much as rented and even worse, they may even cheapen the experience. Linen Effects is a good place to start. Tell them you saw them on vibride.com. I really love how full service they are.

Hello ladies,

Thank you Bumblebeekee,Shy, and everyone else I do have a Costco and Party City here in New York. I will go to these store and see what they have.

The only thing I have concern with is ordering from a web site and not seeing the items in person. I don't want to order stuff and it comes back looking like crap, because knowing my luck something goes wrong.

Maybe. But much less than buying it. You can rent centerpieces too. Brides spend a lot on centerpieces when they make them themselves. Also when you rent you don't have to worry about what to do with all that crap at the end of the day.
