Anybody changing clothes for the reception?
Posted on: 01/17/2008 04:11 PM
The only thing I'm changing is my veil for a birdcage veil.

Those have always looked classy and sophisticated to me and this would be the one time I can get decked out in it. I had a huge debate with myself on whether to do one or the other for the ceremony, then went for the classic veil just so that I could feel more like a bride.

So what are you guys planning to do? Pics please.

I love the veil and I love the idea. Very Classy! I think that would be a very nice touch.
My FH keeps telling me that he would love to see me in another dress for the reception. he broke down the way he pictures me looking on the day, down to my hairstyle. Since I never wore it the way he has been wanting to see it, I am going to surprise him with the dress and hair change for the reception.

It's hard for me to show the coding in here to you. I'll have to give the symbols a name so that this site wont try to change into codes.

that is very cute...it would be different, but I understand what you mean about the classic; since I have been married before I was not going to wear a veil but after trying the veil with the dress it was a MUST and it definetly made me feel more like a bride! :) I'm not doing a dress change..I paid too much for my dress so I want to get my 'wear and tear' out of it!! LOL

I want to. My dress is really heavy but I don't think my mom would even be with me changing.

I love the bircage veil. Very elegant and chic.

At my best friend's wedding she had a reception outfit- we went to the dressing room and she took off and put on the wedding dress two times (which as you know is so difficult- including double sided tape etc) I am not sure - its as though taking off her dress symbolised the end of the wedding and she could not do it!! Until someone saw her in the reception dress and said oooh aahhh- that settled it- she would still be getting the looks of adoration in the reception dress !

that is my thought; I will be changing shoes if I decide not to wear my slippers throughout the entire ceremony; they only thing that is stopping me is I'm 5'4 and FH is 6'1 so I will be much shorter than him standing at the altar

I might consider changing my clothes as well. I didn't realize how heavy wedding dresses are till I went browsing yesterday!

Im really considering changing.
If I find something that I really like at a great price. Its a done deal. I was on Dillards this weekend and found a dress but they didnt have it in my size...so the hunt is still on!!!

Nope. I didn't change for the reception. I didn't want to wear my wedding gown, the most expensive dress I've ever owned, for only 25 minutes. I chose a light organza wedding gown and was very happy to wear it for the reception. I loved my dress! I did wear an inexpensive flowing chiffon dress to take pictures on the beach with hubby before the ceremony. I didn't want to take the fancy gown onto the beach to mess it up before the ceremony. When I showed people at work the photos, they were so surprised that I wore 2 dresses that day. I heard comments about some brides having to choose one dress while I had two. I even heard comments about maybe me being rich. Please! My boss made the comment that she had a very large family and had been to many weddings, and that was the first time she saw a bride with 2 dresses. That's surprising to me since the trend now is to have 2 dresses one for the ceremony and one for the reception. All I can say is, what we did worked for us. We had a small, intimate wedding and reception. I planned the wedding myself instead of hiring someone, decorated the wedding cake myself, created the following myself: centerpieces, programs, pew markers, gift bags, and made wise budget decisions such as having the wedding and reception at one location thus avoiding the need of limos. So, I could afford to have 2 dresses. The 2nd dress also served as a back-up in case something happened to the main one in our travels. My groom also had 2 shirts in case he perspired through one. I believe in plan B's. We even had a back-up in case something happened to the minister! Each bride is different. Do what makes you happy and fits your budget. It's YOUR day afterall, yours and your fiance's.

I have saved some money thanks to ladies here so I can afford to buy second dress but I still won't be changing my dress at the reception because I am really attached to my dress. I am not even sure I will let FH take it off until 12am. LOL

But I may take off my veil for the reception Or maybe I won't wear my tiara at the ceremony I can't decide.

My hubby also told me that he wanted to see me in my wedding dress all day. He told me that this wedding was a dream come true for both of us and he wanted to see me in my dress for as long as possible. My hubby doesn't ask for much, so I wore that dress all day. I didn't really mind because I had changed my shoes and put on some comfy ballerina slippers.

I'm not changing either. The dress is light enough to wear for the entire evening.

I wanted to change before....but once I got into the dress I couldn't get out of it...Plus everything was scheduled to the T-I wouldn't have had time to change anyways....I felt like those little girls did when you have that favorite dress you just want to wear everyday all day and all night...I just couldn't get out of it....

I DO THINK that VIPrincess did great by chosing that pretty dress for the pictures before the wedding...That was a great idea!

I've never been a dress person so to get me in one dress was hard enough let alone trying to get me to change into another. If I changed into anything, it would have been a comfy pair of jeans...lol
