Hi ladies! I was brought to your site wile I was helping my girlfriend plan her wedding well my baby asked me a few weeks ago ( YES!) So Ladies heres my problem I am a big girl and all the wedding dress I see are strapless and I have some big ole arms like "oh no she didnt walk down this isle with the big azz arms out and he back swirled up like a honey bun" So I hope you wonderfull ladies can help point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!
Welcome kelolo!! and congrats on your upcoming wedding!!! :) let me be the first to say-the motto for us ViBride sistas is "your day, your way"!! wear whatever YOU want to wear-if you try on a strapless and you feel good about it, then flaunt it!! don't worry about what people are going to say because if you came down the isle wrapped from head to toe showing NOTHING they would still say 'no she didn't' !! :)
I am a plus sized bride and I'm wearing spaghetti straps and I have found some strapless that I love. But depending on the time of year of your wedding you could wear a fur caplet. Also David's Bridal has a couple really pretty dresses in plus size that have sheer jackets to go over it and they also have a service where if you find a strapless gown you like they can add sleeves on it.
Not to worry there are a lot more options out there than you think.

Glad you liked my dress. The designer is Casablanca. It's from the Spring 2006 collection, style 1814. The original dress was sleeveless but I had the 3/4 sleeves added because I have a scare on my arm I wanted to cover. Casablanca can add or remove sleeves for you for most of their dresses. The wedsite is casablancabridal.com.

Welcome Kelolo and congrats on your upcoming wedding. Kelolo, I'm a big girl too and my dress had spaghetti straps. I embrace my full-figure and love every part of me!
Find a dress that makes you happy and later for what you think other people will say. They might not think that way at all. What matters most is your opinion of yourself.

Thanks Pam! I think we a going for Sept.27,2008 Do you think that we will have enough time to put everything together? Oh by the way our colors are hot pink and orange (spicy)Italicized Text
You definitely have enough time but you need to get moving on your major decisions now, such as booking your ceremony & reception locations. If you already have a photographer or DJ you prefer, you want to go ahead and book those also. Especially if you're choice of DJ is very popular.

Ivy I didn't know you changed your colors from pink & green. I was thinking of you when I responded azalea & olivine (different shade of pink & green) where hot colors in the "Wedding in Colors" post. I also like the idea of hot pink & black.

Gurl the website for those dresses is www.plussizebridal.com and these dresses are very affordable. Good luck on finding your dream dress, and remember dont limit yourself because of what other people may think. If you like the way if looks and feels on you then go for it.
Welcome to the board Kelolo... you are definitely in the right place for wedding ideas as they flow here.
May I say I do agree with the ladies that you should go with what you want, and not let what others may or may not say dictate to you. Honey people are gonna talk whether you do right or not, so like we say here "YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY"

Welcome to the site sister and as you can tell, we don't really take it kindly when someone said "can't, shoudn't, couldn't". Only you can make that determination. As Ivy stated, I've seen some wonderfully exquisite dresses that are either alter tops or sleeveless. It's up to you and regardless of your choice, you will look absolutely wonderful.
That being said, Wow!!!Wonderful dress Kelolo. It just took my breath away. Stylish in a demure kind of way. I'm loving it!!!
I too am a plus size girl. I am wearing this dress and ordered a short matching bolero jacket. http://www.nexteve.com/shop/pageant-dresses/red-lace-halter-dress-F02_0415.html
It's easy to do business with them and they have some really great prices for bridesmaids and mother of the bride dresses.

hey there ladies.. i have not yet found my dream dress either.. which is interesting since i work at David's Bridal (on the weekends). it just seems like every thing I try on just looks horrible. i am a size 14 and my wedding is in August.. I gonna try to slim down a bit before the big day.. just so I feel beautiful to myself.. hubby to be could care less and do to a medical condition i gained about 40 lbs over the past year or so..Do you ladies have any idea of the best way to go about the dress/weight thing..
Even though i work with brides regularly.. I personally dont know what it will feel like when I've found "The Dress" ..

MzPrice2B ~ Maybe you should try looking outside of David's Bridal. Maybe the problem is that you've seen those dresses a lot and their selections are really not doing it for you. Face it sister, you're a fabulous size 14!!! You will look great!!! I'm a size 16 and you should see the wedding dress I've chosen. You are beautiful inside and out and you will find that very special dress that will compliment your beauty. Trust me.
I agree with Ginoue-I'm a sized 12-14 and was very apprehensive about strapless or anything with my arms out, but guess what---my dress is both and I think it looks great, so don't be afraid to try out those things that you normally wouldn't go for! :)
I REALLY like the first one under Housewife's post; I love the sheer sleeves-I know you are having a summer wedding, but I think the material, and the look is beautiful

Trust me Teresa, you will blow their minds away with the third one. It just screams "you"!!! Go try them all on at a salon and you'll see how great you look in the third dress, the one with organza. It will compliment your shape a whole lot more. Breathtaking!!! Take your MOH along. You'll see!!!

The third one Diva
Maybe you can DIY and organza wrap if you're as crafty as our Diva sister ~ Turiya. Wrap it around your shoulders, pass it under your arms and tie it in the back. Lovely!!! Then when the ceremony is over and you're in the Limo heading to your reception, remove the wrap and make your entrance without it!!! It means that you're ready to party.
My FH and I plan to dance as the DJ announce our names. Shoot, I'm ready to party already!!!
Stop playin, I was thinking of that exact same dress for my reception.
I looked at the reviews for the bridesmaids dress in that style and someone said to be careful of the split in the back because it might open up higher if you are getting your real dance on.
But I love it
