I'm right with you soon2bmsj!! Same date 3/15/08! Time is flying by so quickly!! I'm slowly getting things done, it's just so hard to do everything I'd like to do since I am currently working on my thesis. But I am still on schedule, and I plan to keep things that way:)

Ok ladies,
I pretty much have everything completed except:
-mailing my invitations (will do by weeks end)
-working on wedding programs now
-going for fitting this weekend
-waiting on groomsmen gifts to come in (on backorder)
-guys are registered at tuxedo shop and have been instructed to be completed with fitting by 2/18.
-getting DJ music this weekend to make cd favors
-finalizing rehearsal dinner with restaraunt

Hey ladies! I haven't been around in awhile! Between working on my thesis and these invitations, things have been pretty crazy! But just to give you an update along with Soon, I pretty much have all of the major things completed as well:

-Plan to have invitations in the mail today...Thank God:)
-Went for my final fitting last weekend, however the gown still needs some minor alterations, so I will be going for another fitting on Feb. 23rd, hopefully my final:)
-Met with my day of planner last weekend, and she was wonderful!
-Still need to buy guest sign in book/photo frame, floating candles for centerpieces, some other small things
-Need to finish DIY layered programs in Photoshop

dreamgurl, I am getting through this thesis/wedding planning process with lots and lots of prayer! Balancing the work is the hardest thing for me to do. Once I get these invitations in the mail today, focusing on my school work will be a whole lot easier! Not easy, just easier:)

Yes Soon, I am feeling the stress! I think I would be ok if I wasn't in school, but the pressure of both is what's causing the stress! But just checking over the list making sure I have all of the small things taken care of is driving me a little crazy. I can feel my mood changing by the day, so I'm sure my FH and those around me have noticed. But there is good reason for it, working on this wedding pretty much alone and a thesis project will cause one to go insane...lol!! The day of planner really is wonderful, and assured me that I am not in this alone, and will assist in anyway that I need. FH still doesn't show a whole lot of interest in this final stretch of the wedding planning process. He is stepping up to the plate more and more however. He helped me stuff the invitations last night, and thank God for that, now I can mail them out when I get out of bed:) And he has been calling and making all of our reservations (airplane, car rental, hotels), so all of that is taken care of. So, I do feel your stress Soon, but we are almost there:) Are you able to feel excited? I am extremely excited, I cannot wait until the BIG day!

I am actually celebrating my First Anniversary in March 2008.
We have recently confirmed plans to visit Destin again! I am so excited....

To all the other March Brides: Watch Out! Time flies quickly. A year ago this weekend my then FH was on his way to Atlanta for his Bachelor's weekend, and I was finishing my final fitting, and leaving it with my seamstress for safekeeping and to steam....I had already sent invites on the 2nd week of January, and RSVP's came back quickly. However few they ended up being. I also had done my first consultation with my stylist and even took pictures of myself with the dress, headband and veil, with some possible looks....Doing this made me realize I didn't want extensions....

We had also done our Engagement Pics on MLK weekend at a Park with Flowers and garden pools everywhere.

We were still buying the silk flowers, and actually waiting on a special order of the supposedly "higher end" silk flowers to come back to the store....Even though it ended up taking 2 more weeks to get back, I didn't push the "flower person" I.E. friend of mine with talent and no organization skills to finish the bouquets early (hint hint) since they were silks....so she ended up finishing them at the very last minute, and I got an unpleasant surprise with the boutainnaire arrangement.....After I paid her 200.00! I was trying to be "surprised" since I'd seen the samples already, but it wasn't worth it cause I felt it wasn't worth my 200.00 which was really me trying to boost up her little business.....So if you're doing silks get them done now....forget about surprises and just get your own guarantees!

By the end of February (wedding was 3/3/07), everything was paid for, booked, and the timelines, programs, etc were printed for everyone, and I picked up my dress 5 days before the wedding....I maintained my weight great so no further alterations were needed.

The night before the wedding I went home alone....I prayed a lot and just relaxed in the quietness of my apartment. I got my hair done Saturday morning at 6:30 AM, and was at the church, dressed, and ready by 9:45, so I just spent the last 45 minutes taking pics (Wedding started at 10:30 AM), joking around and relaxing...waiting on everyone else...Those last 45 minutes were absolutely stress-free...I owe it all to plenty of "putting it off on my great coordinator", delegation of tasks, and having very few people involved in making decisions....

As the bride, you always play the diplomat/president....meaning you always have the final word..Example....The flower person decided to add tulle to my garden-like silver arch along with the vines and flowers already up there cause her mother said it needed more....I saw it at rehearsal, gave my coordinator a look when she saw me walk in, and it was all down in 3 minutes....I don't like tulle, and that was it....Unfortunately, some ended up on the pews, and I saw this for the first time walking down the aisle....but do you frown and be a bridezilla the whole ceremony for a little tulle? Or do you act like the Queen you are and let it go? Well this little Bee is a queen so I kept the stinger back for another day.

I can still remember the wedding day like it was yesterday, and everytime I hear "Lost Without You" by Robin Thicke, I am instantly taken back to our first dance....because we didn't want a slow dragging song.....

Splurging on the pictures allowed us to see things and our wedding from another angle that we still treasure to this day.

March Brides...remember, enjoy your day and even pace yourself with the planning as you enter the last leg of this "relay race". Stay calm and positive, and always have the final word. You have to stay on top of things, and you should always know whats going on....Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today....Emergencies come up, but you can and will get through, because your wedding day is coming no matter what! Enjoy your Spring wedding, and make sure you take advantage of the beautiful weather and "new beginnings" Spring season has to offer.

Much Love.

Thank you for the wonderful words Bumble! My day of planner assured me that I am exactly where I need to be as far as planning goes, and that by the end of Feb., she wants me to be finished with everthing. Basically, she said that i should enter into March not worrying about anymore wedding planning, and to just relax! I said, uhhhh, we'll see..lol! I'm such a perfectionist, I can see myself planning up until March 14! But I am in a very good place, and if I stay on track, I probably could finish things up by the end of Feb! We shall see:)

GREAT words of wisdom and encouragement Bumble! They definetly came right on time!!! I am a little worried about the weather-here in Texas last yr. it snowed on EASTER (which it never has) so we have not really had a winter so I am hoping on March 15th it is not 40 degrees! :(

By the way, congrats on your upcoming 1 yr anniversary! I wish you and hubby many more years of happiness together...since you are at your one year mark, what is the hardest thing you think you guys have had to deal with?

I feel you on the weather concerns Soon. We are getting married in Pittsburgh, and the snowfall has been really light so far this year. I'm concerned that it is trying to hold off until March!! I actually love snow and think a winter wedding could be very beautiful, I'm just concerned about all of those who will be travelling in to Pittsburgh! March is usually pretty cold, but the snow is usually light by then. But this year, who knows! We shall see:)

And yes Bumble, Congratulations on your upcoming one year anniversary! I know that first year must have gone by so quickly for you two.

You know what they say, when its cold outside, pull out a cute fur (faux if you like) stole or jacket, and strut your stuff:

(The genuine fur on this Queen Bee was my "something borrowed")

Even after almost 9 years of being together, and 11 months of marriage....these last 11 months have been the hardest!

The number one thing of it all is since we ARE married, when we are angry I can't just kick him out like I used to, or leave for hours on end like I used to....Marriage teaches you to work your problems out sooner instead of letting it boil for days or more....We also live in a small apartment so when we fight or even ....you know what, people can hear so we try to stay calm and nice too.
Marriage also teaches you to learn that you can't just make decisions without each other because sooner or later, it comes back up and someone ends up in the dark about something.....Of course the beautiful thing about it is that you have someone to come home to, who is waiting for you, and missed you even when all you were doing is going to the market for a few minutes....the joy of changing your last name or mentioning "my husband" this or that to another wife....Planning the future is fun also...

Welcome to the site chonda02! I am also a 03/15/08 bride! Wow, three of us on one site:) I am feeling the pressure of this wedding planning as well. I'm still enjoying myself, so I'm not quite at the point where I'm ready for it to be over just yet. But we still have a little over 6 weeks to go, so I may be joining you and Soon in the "I can't wait until this is over club," before it's all over...lol! So give us the details of your big day!

Hey Ladies,

Thank you for embracing me into your family. Our wedding will be held in Houston, TX in 3rd Ward TX. Right near TSU where me and my honey met. I have a matron, a maid and 5 bridesmaid. There are 6 groomsmen and a best man. Since my parents are deceased, my younger brother will walk me down the aisle. My 2 yr old daughter will be one of my flower girls and my little cousin is the other. My 2 yr old "adopted" son will be the ring bearer. I think it will be soo cute. I wanted a Crimson and Creme wedding, but my fiance isn't havin' it. He is a Alpha. So our colors are a dark red (claret) and old gold. I know they are traditionally fall colors. But this is 2008 and we are payin' so why not do whatever we want. LOL! Um. One of our science professors from college is a minister at the church, so he is officiating the ceremony. We also did pre marital counseling with him.
I am so excited I can't wait. I had the nightmares about the wedding, the scary jitters. I don't know how many times I've called my Matron in almost tears worried about something with the wedding.

Know I am just trying to find a song for my cousin to praise dance to. I think I will be all set.
