Shoes Dilemma!
Posted on: 10/25/2007 09:14 AM
Hi ladies, I've got a dilemma I'm hoping you can help me out with.

FH and I both stand at the same height (5,9) barefeet... When I'm wearing my stilletoes (which is often) I tower over him a few inches, depending on the length of the heels. FH has suggested that I wear flats for the wedding - especially for the dance as he doesn't want to be looking up at me (talk about ego --- LOL)

Do you ladies suggest that I buy flats to wear for the wedding and if so do you have any pics of beautiful ones to give me an idea. The shoes would really have to be enticing because I LOVE my heels.

good advice soon2bride!
I actually thought about wearing slippers for the wedding also just so I won't fall-LOL but with me being 5'4 and FH 6'1 I need to add a little height to myself :) but I will be in flats or barefoot at the reception because a sistah can't cupid shuffle in heels!

I was looking for flat shoes as well and ended up finding a real simple pair with kitten heel an dressing them up with a small rhinestone brooch Since your FH will have on dress shoes which typically have about a 1 inch heel, look for some thing that has a 1 to 1.5 inch heel. Something like this pic (Haven't posted pic in a while so hope this works):

Thanx ladies...

Pamcrow - the page you provided the link says the file has been moved or doesn't exist. So if you still have the pics on your pc please upload via photobucket as I would love to see them.

Dee, go to perfectdetails.com, click on wedding shoes and then click on Flats & low heels on the left. These shoes are pricey but The Kathryn style is nice.

BUMP

I need a few opinions! lol Ok everyone knows that I am getting married on the beach. I plan on being barefoot with footjewelry on my feet. My question is since my dress in long and I have to walk off the ship would it be taky to wear wedged bridal flip flops or should I go for brial mules or something? I am just not sure if shoes will be cost effective since I will be taking them off anyway...what do you ladies think?

Wow, ieasha, this is so Joeley Fisher at her renewal ceremony. I suggest you go totally barefoot. Girl, when you step off the ship and pick up the hem of your dress and your attendants and FH get a load of your bejeweled feet .... Anyways, go barefoot!!!

I plan to wear flats on my big day. I'm 6' tall and FH is 6'3". If I find any pretty flats, I'l let you know.

Thanks Plat, appreciate it... I would still love to wear something to these effects though, so I think I will follow soon2bride's idea of changing into flats later.

Those are beautiful, DeeLove! You have me thinking about heels now. The only thing is that I hope I can be comfortable wearing them (I have a metal plate with 7 screws in my right ankle). Those shoes are too cute, though. I like the 3rd and 4th pics. Have you checked with your FH to see if he wouln't mind wearing a "shoe lift"? He would insert those into his shoes and they should add an extra 2-3 inches to his height.

My FH is shorter than me and I'm wearing flats the whole time. Either a jeweled flip flop or ballet slipper. I don't intend on folks really being able to see my feet anyway.
