Making it Count!
Posted on: 10/15/2007 02:52 PM
This past Saturday, my husband and I spent the day in Georgia (2 hrs north of where we live) to attend a funeral of his second (or third-family too big) cousin...A young man (30 years old) who had died of brain cancer. He was diagnosed earlier this year, however, DH didn't tell me right away. I knew many of his family members living there had taken ill and had not been able to make it to our wedding, so we took our pictures up there to mingle and had food...

I am just writing this because as you can imagine. This young man was diagnosed this year with brain cancer, and now he is gone, leaving a young wife and 2 very very young children. So newlyweds, brides, grooms...make everyday count...When we got home, we usually just fall asleep, kiss good night, but for for some reason DH and I just held each other tight....no words, just love and hugs....So make every day, every minute count....Give your lives over to God now, and live in rightousness, don't wait until you are on your deathbed, because life can change in a short time...This time last year Rick was fine, happy, and enjoying life...Many people loved him, and cared for him like he cared for them....But later on he finally gave his life over to God...Its never to late, even when you are dying, but why not live saved for the rest of your life? vs for the last few months you are to live....Fortunately, Rick lived longer than his Doctors had prescribed, so he was able to set details in order for his family....But we are all not so fortunate, for the next minute, the next breathe you take is not guaranteed...Love your husbands, stand strong, love each other...encourage each other to be the best you can be....Spread the Good News about how God s blessing you to walk into a new stage of ministry: Marriage. Be a good model for other young girls, as you all have been for me....Always strive for peace, and excellence, and nothing else...Make every day count!

Bumble, first I'd like to offer my condolensces (sp?). Your(&hubby) family are in my prayers.

Thank you so much for this wake up call. So often, we take so much for granted. I appreciate you so much for this! Thank you.

great testimony and advice Bumblebeekee! I agree with you 100% and can relate-life is very short! in 2005 my 15 yr old son died of sudden cardiac death while playing in a basketball tournament. I had just dropped him off 1 hr before I received the call that they were taking him to the hospital. It taught me valuable life lessons...to pray without ceasing (because this is the ONLY thing that sustained me) to love and cherish the times that you have with your loved ones (in your words-make it count) and to not sweat the small things in life because they too shall pass!

thank you ladies-please know that my testimony was not for sympathy but to give encouragment and strength to show that no matter what the problem or circumstance, God brought you to it-so he will bring you thru it! the storms were definetly raging in my life at the time (and I still have my days) but by once I begin to put ALL of my faith in HIM I finally realized that the things that were my focus (my home, my job, my car etc...) will never compare to what God has waiting for me that will be everlasting! and guess what-me and my son will get to spend ETERNITY togther which surpasses any amount of time we would have had together here on earth! :)

Amen!
Love lights even the darkest of paths.
What Fire doesn't destroy, only makes stronger.
Even when you don't know; God knows. I will be still and let Him do His thing.
Alone in the world; but always in the company of the Lord.

This is so powerful. One of my brother's friends lost her 12yo daughter about a month ago (she drowned). She has a son the same age as my son so they go to summer camp together. I was worried about him and asked how he was. E told me "I'm fine. I had a lot of good times with my sister and will again." He's 7! I was awestruck and inspired. From the mouths of babes. No regrets ladies!
