Sorry sister, but I've never heard of that one. I haven't had a client that has made the request either. What's it all about?

it is a blended family ceremony that after bride/groom recite vows the children (or child in our case)comes and stands with the couple and they make a vow and promises to the child and present them with a necklace (in our case) ring, bracelet or pennant. the family medallion is a round medallion with three rings entertwined. this is the one we are using:

Officiant Remarks: It is the desire of _________ and _________ to extend their commitments to each other by making some promises to the children of this family. As you all join hands to form a new circle of love, we will seal this union with spoken promises like the rings this bride and groom have exchanged.

Officiant to the Bride/Groom: Do you _________ and _________, promise to be faithful, loving, tender and nurturing parents, always there for _________ (child/children's name), not only providing their/her/his physical needs, but their/her/his emotional needs as well, always a good listener, a loving counselor and a friend?

Bride & Groom: We do.

Officiant to the Mother/Father (Speaking to the Child/Children): (Repeat after me). _________, I want you to know that I love your mother/father very much. I will not and cannot replace a mother/father loved by you, however I can promise you that I will love you and care for you as if you were my own. I promise to be a committed listener. I promise you my trust, to be fair, my support, what knowledge I can share, to be your friend, and to provide a shoulder to cry on. I promise to be available to you as I am to your mother/father.

Bride/Groom to Child/Children: _________, I give you this _________ (gift) as a sign of my loving promises made this day.

Officiant to Child/Children: Do you accept the promises made by _________?

Child/Children: I do or We do.

Officiant: May a kind God now bless you all as family, and bless this marriage and this home.

Oh, I understand what you mean. I've heard of the process before, though I haven't had a client who'd requested it. I think it's an added bonus, especially if you have children on either side. It's a way of not only including them, but for them to feel accepted by their respective stepparent as well. I say go for it.

That sounds pretty cool. We won't be doing that in my ceremony because the children are much older and almost all of them out the door.
Love lights even the darkest of paths.
What Fire doesn't destroy, only makes stronger.
Even when you don't know; God knows. I will be still and let Him do His thing.
Alone in the world; but always in the company of the Lord.

I dont plan of including this in my ceremony since there are on other children except the two we share togethor, however a friend of mine included he stepson in there ceremony. They did the sand ceremony and each of them had a diffrent color vile of sand. Her colors where pink, white, and sliver, so each of them had a diffrent color.

I didn't incorporate this. However, I had a unity candle set with 3 extra matching tapers (for the 3 children) and we all lit the candles together.
