Trifling A$% Groomsmen
Posted on: 09/13/2007 02:38 PM
Have any of you ladies had to put up with groomsmen or ushers not getting measured or paying their tux deposits by the date you asked them to? Our wedding is about 3 weeks away, and we still have some guys who haven't done measurements yet or paid deposits on tux, and they've known about where to go and what to do since this spring!! At this point, my FH is ready to find replacements. This is really making me nervous b/c it seems to me like if they would be this irresponsible about going to get measured for a freakin tux that we can't count on them to be on time for stuff or handle what they need to for the wedding day. How much longer should we give them? Would you replace them?

Girl, most men do not understand why it's so important to get this done ASAP! I would suggest your FH give them a deadline. No ifs, ands, or buts. If they don't comply, they'll be replaced-end of story. This is your day and you guys don't need the added stress of dealing with people who want to drag their feet.

Don't want to scare you but we ended up with a GM dropping out day before our wedding because he couldn't afford to pay for his tux. Thank god hubby had a first cousin who flew in for wedding that was willing to step in at the last moment. Because we felt it wouldn't be right to ask him to pay for the tux, we paid for it. Even worse, one of the bestmen had an emergency the week of the wedding making him unable to pay the balance of his tux. We ended up paying for his tux also. Still to this day, he hasn't offered to pay us back.

I have some other stories about trifling GMs but I don't want to scare you to much. I'm just happy none of our trifling GMs were from my side of the family.

Thanks, y'all. We've decided to have WC call them AGAIN to give them another deadline of this Sunday, and to tell them that if they do not follow through, we have decided to find replacements. Wish us luck -- I'll let you know if they actually go ahead and comply.

more reason for the guys to start EARLY also! i am having this problem with FH & guys also--they keep thinking because of '08 but I have to keep reminding them that '08 is around the corner!!

i didn't even ask the groomsmen to get a tux, just a suit and they won't even get that!! and don't get me started on the FH! my wedding is in two months and none of them have their suits!! i told him i don't want my wedding pictures to look like we just threw this event togehter, i need coordination. but at this point, i don't care. if they show up not dressed properly, they will just have to enjoy the ceremony from the pew.

I've heard a variety of things about how soon we should start ordering for the guys? My wedding is on March 15, 2008. How soon should I order the guy's tuxedo's? All this talk of irresponsible GMs has me concerned, so I don't want to wait until the last minute! Thank you

Tiff, 3/15/08 for me too...FH went and picked out the tux's for his guys, but of course they want to wait until after the 1st of the year to go get fitted-I am not happy with this, but what can I do since we can't afford to pay for them

My FH and I have actually picked the tux's out as well, but we have decided not to have the guys get fitted just yet. The people in the store told us we can wait until late February to have the guys get fitted, but I refuse to wait that long! I'm thinking I will let the guys know the cost of the tuxedos now, give them time to save, and have them go in for their fittings early January, as your guys are doing. We should be ok with the time if they wait until after the first of the year. Would you be more comfortable having them go in for their fittings now?

I think now is too early-FH just got prices so they could start "saving" (which I am sure they will wait until last min anyway) but I am going to have him start with them in Jan so maybe by mid Feb they will have it done! :)

I had no problems with my groomsmen when it came time for fittings, however my fh was the one who wanted to wait until abut two to three weeks before not realizing that people are ordering tux for weddings and proms.

Sure did! We had three groomsmen to back out a week before the wedding. Two of them were husband's brothers.
