Okay... I guess I would have known this had I actually been shopping for a wedding cake... But I wasn't & now I am... Why do Cake Toppers cost soooo much money...Jesus!... $50!!! I even saw one that I really liked and it cost $175! I mean goodness gracious, can we get break? They know that people are gonna spend whatever to make their day beautiful and just take advantage of them... I'm highly upset... I spend $500 on a cake and I gotta spend another $100 & something to put a decoration on top... I'm PISSED!!! They better be lucky my parents are sooo traditional, otherwise, I might have to put birthday candles on top...lmao... No but seriously, am I just a broke college kid acting irrational about this or do y'all feel me?
Anyways, if anyone knows any sites that are cheaper... PLEASE let me know.
Too funny! They can be expensive but don't have to be. What style are you looking for? The have some at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc. The main thing is the style you want.
I got mine for $40 (including shipping). It's a monogramed cake topped fully covered in swarvorksi (y'all know what I mean) crystals. I forgot the name of the place, but I do know they're also on ebay.
Here is an example of a cake topper that I would love to have. You give them a picture of you and your husband and they will make it look like you. They give you a glass case so after the wedding you can put it on the wall unit.
Yeah House, I wanted to get a cake topper like that made also until I saw the price. Those cake toppers start at like $300 and I've seen them as high as $1300 on various websites. I have seen them on ebay though for a lot less but they were more caricuture (I know I spelled that wrong) looking. I just settled for flowers on my cake.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
I'm doing flowers on the top of my cake too. The costs for toppers can be just crazy. I wanted a cute little crown to go on top of mine but the one I wanted was too high,
I love those toppers! I don't love the price. I never realized the cost of toppers until I started planning my wedding. Cake toppers have come a long way!

I KNOW, those things are pricey. My cake was so inexpensive, I could not imagine paying more for the topper than my cake. Plus what do you do with such a pricey item afterwards?
So I used the double heart theme for my wedding and found a cure doubleheart at WalMart and Micheals...I think its made by the Wilton Company who does all the wedding stuff. It was really cheap, but I forgot how cheap, it was less than 20.00 though. I had the bakers but the white roses on top and the other coordinator put the double hearts between the roses so it was sitting in the roses...
I know thats right, I absolutely love it and my roommate/bridesmaid is so convinced that I need to get it, but I cannot bring myself to consider paying that much for it

This is the site where I originally found the cake toppers that are made to lok like the bride and groom. Althought some might think these are tooooooooooo expensive, I am sure that with a little research you will be able to find a company that provides the same service with cheaper prices.
House, I absolutely love those toppers & I will keep them in mind for my renewal of vows platinum wedding style in 7 years... But I went with a topper that I got from Michael's and customized it to match my favors.
BTW, I would show u all a picture but I have no idea how to put pictures in my post, if you get a chance can someone please let me know... Thanks
Here's what my cake topper ended up lookin' like (minor customizations, the yellow & white flowers on the dress to match the favors flowers to tie the top)...
Thanks Future, my favors were wedding cake shaped bubbles with our names and wedding dates on the bottom tier of the cake & mints & those bags that I made by hand, by myself, one by one...lol
I too couldnt bring myself to spend all that oney on the personalized look alike toppers...LOL
I kept thinking ..thats a car payment or something..LOL
I ended up ordering the monogram wood cake topper
I will be putting the stones on it myself.
Saved me a bunch of money...The monogram plus shipping was only $16
I will go to Michales with my 40% off coupon to get the stones
I can't believe I missed this. House, I love this. I would love to have one. Y'all know I'm the bargain shopper/DIY type of girl but I'm loving this. Unfortunately, I would hate to spend more on the topper than the cake.Lol! SexiDiva, I'm thinking about using one like yours. Love it!
Thanks y'all! Since I didn't have the "Car Payment" as 2bmrspotts puts it...I love it... to pay for a topper I bought the $40 one with $3 worth of decorations and some hot glue & BAM... Something new and improved...lol
I will be ordering my letters this week! I had to send him a font file. None of the script-type fonts in Word had a "J" I liked. I forwarded him the "tsp of the mourning" font I used in our monogram. He said he can use it so I will be placing my order tomorrow. What size letters did you order?
those are pretty! I think the crystals should be the most dominant color of your wedding; like my colors are pistachio/clover & silver but the pistachio is going to be the main focus color
by the way, where did you find the crystals? I'm using monogram initials too (silver) and would love to add some color
cool! thanks for the info! I know my job will be soooo glad when this wedding is over because my productivity is crap with me on-line wedding searching/shopping all day! :)
You may also want to try www.rhinestoneshop.com
They are very inexpensive and the shipping is free no matter how much you spend.
I placed an order last weekend and received it 4 days later.
ok stupid question-would I just glue the rhinestones onto the initials are is there so special glue I would have to use? I am not DIY inclined so could you experts help a sister out?
I'm using a glue specifically for rhinestones. They have a silverish backing on them and you have to put a little glue around the sides so the stone doesn't separate from this backing. Other glues will probably work though. I just fell better about the rhinestone glue.
Keep Up those are the exact same colors as my cake topper (which is also a J). It's going to be so beautiful. I've had mine about 2 months, and I still can't get over how beautiful is it.
No I didn't do it myself, I got it done for 108 dollars, and in my opinion it was worth it. It's one of the few things I decided to splurge on because I want to keep it as a keepsake. I will try to get a picture up for you. Can someone tell me how to put pictures up please?
I puchased the 9ss size.
I got them from rhinestoneshop.com ( pretty inexpensive)
I ordered the wood letters from Ed. They were inexpensive as well...I think the entire monogram (3 initials) plus priority shipping was $16
very nice- 2bmrspotts
I called the store yesterday after your post and the guy suggested I order the 12ss size but after looking at yours, the size might be too big :( also was it pretty easy to do?
