New to the Board :) !!!!

Hello Ladies!
I am new to the board and I just wanted to introduce myself. Well, I randomly found this site like a month ago after a goggle search of African American weddings. I was expecting a pretty boring site of information (lol) but instead I came across this cite full of insight, experience, and God’s love!
About Me
I am from Rochester, New York (upstate New York). I will become a Mrs. :) on October 4, 2008!!! I have known my FH (I even picked up the lingo!!) for 8 years, dating for 6. He proposed this past December after my graduation (yay! Penn State). I began planning the day after lol. We are planning a very traditional, elegant, and HUGE wedding. (We both have 13 attendants each and expect about 250 - 300 guests) We booked the reception cite, ceremony cite, photographer, I picked bridesmaid attire, FH picked attendants attire, and I have my wedding dress :). I know there is soooo much more to do, but I think we are off to a pretty good start.
We don’t have a theme as of yet. However, we both feel a theme would make buying invitations, favors, etc easier. Any suggestions? Our colors are apple, black and white (not sure if we will add any silver or gold)
Well, I look forward to reading future post and CONGRATS to all the vibrides!
P.S. Also, where can I get one of those cool wedding counter thingy’s? :)

Welcome ElegantBride! (I guess I am the 6th?) lol. You are putting me to shame with all your planning you have a great start sounds like everything will go smoothly. I have really gotten alot of good advice from this site. Once again Congrats!
Oh and since Elegant asked about the tickers, I know where to get them, can someone please tell me how do you put it on your posts? thanks gals

Thank you all for the warm and thoughtful welcome. I know I will gain so much from this site...I can't wait :)
MzTajsia, I haven’t really thought about incorporating ethnic elements into the ceremony or reception. But we are VERY open to new ideas and tips. So if anyone has any ideas...please share! I actually just registered at the knot so our website is a work in progress :). Also, thank you for the ticker information :)

Hello and welcome. Sound like you are already off to a great start.
Do you guys have a favorite logo or flower you like? Initials work well too. You have so many options, so if you haven't bought or borrowed a magazine, or at least browsed this site, I would get to it. Tear out/bookmark/save any pics or pages with ideas you like and start cataloguing them. You can always sleep on it and decide later. At least then you'll have time to get more ideas as time goes by, and you never know, some old ideas may mesh good with a newer idea...Anyways welcome, and we are already excited for you.
