Hello Gals I'm new to the board...I'm soooo glad a girlfriend of mine told me about this awesome site. I just recently got engaged & the FH and I have set a date for 7/5/08. I'm still in the begining stages of planning but my biggest dillema is where to have the reception..I live in a small city in Northern Louisiana called Ruston, if you ladies have any suggestions as to a location I greatly appreciate the input.

Hi Vicky and welcome to the boards! First, let me say Congrats! I'm Askalot Aka Septbride. I'm not familiar with that area, but what kind of place are you looking for? Are you looking for a banquet hall, small room in a restuarant, etc? Also, how many people are you planning on invititing? Are you having your ceremony at a church?
Also, I'm curious, is/was your friend a former member here?

It was my original intention to have a church ceremony...but we are having alot of out-of-town guest comming in, being that neither FH or I are from Ruston (we both attend school their...Go GSU Tigers!)...so I was hoping to have both my ceromony & reception at one location to save our family & friends the drama of getting around in an unfamilar town...we are expecting 100-150 guest and I want a nice size reception hall to facilitate both the ceromony & reception....any ideas ladies...i'm begining to get desperate LOL!
PS septbride...my friend's older sister told her about the site...not sure whether she is/was a member or not.

Welcome Vicky,
Well first thing to do is take your FH or MOH if you already have one on a road trip. If you are set on having the ceremony and reception in Ruston then drive around and see if you can find a good location.
If all else fails you can always look into having it at the hotel that you will reserve to most guest rooms at.

Welcome the boards Vicky. My sister is 2003 grad of GSU. I know that the ROTC department have banquets somewhere there. I would ask one of the instructors in that department where the have their balls/banquets and also see if they can help you get it at their discount. Also check with the greeks on campus as well. I know it is not all that big of a city.I can't remember what city is like 20 to 30 minutes away. I know they have some niice hotels you can check out as well. Since majority of your guess will be from out of town and this is where they will be staying this might not be a bad option.

Hi Vicky and welcome. The sister of my future sister-in-law got married to her hubby at the university they both attended. I saw the video and the pictures and they looked lovely. College campuses are always well kept and beautiful so that may be an idea.

Hi, Vicky. Welcome to the site. I agree with the ladies about checking out the banquet facilities at GSU. I'm a truck driver so I know that Ruston isn't far from Monroe, Louisiana. If you're not satisfied with the facilities in Ruston, check out some of schools, museums, and parks in Monroe.
