You can have as many as you like. Traditionally, it is just the main attraction your multi-tiered wedding cake. But people often ad a more fun and outrageous groom's cake that has an unusual theme flavor and/ or color. Believe it or not there are even bridesmaid's cakes and groomsmen's cakes as well! What did you have in mind?

When I get married in July we plan on having 4 cakes. We are having our wedding cake, grooms cake, and a black cake because my fiance is from the VI and that is a tradition. We are also planning just to share our wedding cake with our closest family members, so we are buying a different cake to share with our guests. I kind of thing its a bit to much cake but I guess we'll see how it goes.

We're having two cakes, the wedding cake (ooooh, very pretty :-) and a Groom's cake (with one of his favorite shows, "Stargate" as the theme)---the Grooms' cake theme is a surprise! :-)

We are just having one, the main attraction. It will be so pretty! But if you want more, I say go for it. We are on a budget and don't want all that but I've seen it done. Go for it!

We opted for a three layer cake with different flavors for each layer. You can chose to do this with more layers if you choose. This way there is variety and hopefully more cake gets consumed than left on the table for trash. I have been to seven weddings and at each the cake was always dry and left behind by the guests. My fiance and I went to four different bakeried in one day for tasting and well by the end we did find what we liked but also felt sick from the overload/sugar rush. LOL

We will have two. The traditional wedding cake as the main attraction and a birthday cake because we have a few birthdays on our wedding day and people are threatening a protest. LOL so we think it will be nice, but you can have as many as you like.

We are having a main attraction 4 tier cake w/ a chocolate groom's cake and the surprise is the chocolate fountain. Remember it's your day -- be creative -- have anything amount of cake/dessert you want. You want this day to be memorable.

Girl it's all up to you!!! You decided what you can afford and you go with that. I've seen it where the bride and groom didn't have a cake as a main attraction instead they had cup cakes on a platters that were stacked up to look almost like a layered tier cake. Then I've seen it when the bride and groom have their own seperate themed cakes and the shared with their closest friends and family. You do what you want!!!! AND remember it's all about your day.

ebellaevents I once did a wedding where the bride, groom and wedding party shared a cake, then each table had there own little cake. When the bride and groom cut there cake everyone else cuts there’s too. This can get expensive depending on the kind of cake you choose however the wedding was absolutely beautiful!

Now that's cool! I would have loved to see that and a truly classy way to get everyone in on the fun!
